Ministry

Ministry: Call to Failure.

Many want to minister for God and wants to do greater things in building the Kingdom of God. But the problem is not everyone gives up their life 100 percent to the will of God. It is the sure and undeniable fact that ministry is never an easy business and it needs lots of sacrifices, determination, and endurance to withstand in the journey of ministering to the Lord. When it comes to ministry Isaiah is one who stood very strong in his calling. When we look into the scriptures of Isaiah, he gave up his life completely in-spite of knowing the fact that his call is to failure. We have heard so many sermons about Isaiah right from our Sunday classes, but nobody dealt with this passage because God has kept the hidden treasure in his failure.

When you read carefully the second section of Chapter 6 which mainly deals about his calling, God is making it very clear that the people Isaiah preach to would never listen, and never change. Isaiah 6: 9- 12 says “He said, "Go and tell this people: "'Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.' Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed." Then I said, "For how long, Lord?" And he answered: "Until the cities lie ruined and without inhabitant, until the houses are left deserted and the fields ruined and ravaged,”

We never really talked about how one can be a faithful failure. We never asked ourselves what it means that a person can be called to a ministry that will be unsuccessful. What happens is that we apply the same standards that “the world” uses to the church. I desperately needed to ask this question. I wish I would have been wise enough to notice that God was up front with Isaiah, and told him nobody would listen. The question which we need to ask is that, do we really consider sustaining and doing ministry if God says that there won’t be any sort of enhancement and no one will respond your sermon and give their life to God. It is going to be really tough for many. What we think normally is that a ministry should seek expansion but sometimes God thinks in a different way. It might look like a failure in our eyes but not in the eyes of the Lord who sees everything right from the beginning to end. Isaiah did the will of God and He has even died as a martyr for the Kingdom of God. But God turned him the MAJOR Prophet of the Old Testament. Book of Isaiah is loaded with prophecies and promises which no other book of the Bible contains. God uses our failures and turns into major success if we are true to Him. We need to be true to our calling and serve him what He wants us to be.
