Hearing the Voice of God
Why is it importance to hear the voice of God.
Many times God wanted to talk with us or else wants to show His will in our life. Many times we are much attentive to the worldly sound and even a small notification sound from our mobile gets recognized from us very easily. Many times we miss out when God trying to speak with us. Obedience is the key when trying to hear God’s voice in our life.
Let me take you to the final moments of Jesus when He was in the Garden of Gethsemane when Jesus took all his disciples with Him. However, Jesus called only 3 disciples (Peter, John, Jacob) to remain with Him until he comes from the prayer. Matthew 26: 37-38 says “He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.” Jesus was very clear “Stay here and Keep watch with me” Jesus had told several times that He will be crucified and Son of God will be handed over to men.
Jesus after praying for some time came to see the disciples, but they were literally sleeping and Jesus said “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation” Again reminded them to stay awake. The second time Jesus went to pray and came and they have again slept heavily. It was so disappointing for Jesus. In spite of knowing the intensity of the situation, the disciples were not ready to stay awake. Are we like those disciples without giving a proper response to the Word of God or what Jesus is trying to convey in our life? Are you serious with God? If not it is the right time to come back to him and stay awake to hear his words. Third time also he came, the disciples did the same as the previous two incidents. He said, “Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners”.
The painful moments of final hours of Jesus are that He was trying to convey something very serious before getting delivered into the hands of sinners. He wanted to say something. He wanted to say his burdens. He wanted to pour out his heart. The final moments of Jesus were unrecorded because the disciples were not ready to obey his words and stay awake. We could miss God’s blessings if we are not obedient to hear his words
